Information We Collect

Information you provide

• Email address. Access to the Human Crash Baselines tool is currently invite-only: we check the email you enter against an allowlist to grant access. If you email us, we receive your message and email address.
• Other content you send us. Anything you choose to include in communications with us.

Information collected automatically

• Usage and product analytics. We use third-party analytics providers to understand how the Services are used, including pages viewed, interactions, and other product activity. Once you pass the email access gate on the Human Crash Baselines tool, your usage may be associated with your email address so we can understand usage by our invited users.
• Technical data. Standard information your browser sends, such as browser and device type and an approximate location derived from your IP address by our analytics providers. We do not log your IP address at the application level, though our hosting providers may record it as part of ordinary server operation.
• Local storage. We store small preferences in your browser's local storage, such as your display and map preferences and, on the Human Crash Baselines tool, your signed-in email, so the Services work the way you left them. These stay on your device until you clear them or sign out.

What we do not collect

We do not collect payment information or account passwords, and we do not use your device's geolocation API. The crash and roadway statistics produced by the Human Crash Baselines tool are aggregate, de-identified figures derived from public data; they contain no personally identifying information about anyone involved in a crash.

Cookies & Similar Technologies

Our analytics providers set cookies and/or use local storage to measure usage, and we use local storage to remember your preferences. You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of many analytics cookies using your browser controls or industry opt-out tools. We do not currently respond to "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no common standard for them.

How We Use Information

• To operate, maintain, and improve the Services;
• To understand usage through analytics and improve usability and performance;
• To respond to your inquiries and provide access to invited users;
• To protect the security and integrity of the Services; and
• To comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

If we intend to use your personal information for a materially different purpose, we will provide additional notice and, where required, ask for your consent.

How We Share Information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. We share information only with service providers that help us run the Services, such as analytics providers and hosting and infrastructure providers, and only so they can perform services for us. These providers are based in the United States.

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Valgo, our users, or others.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy or as required by law, after which we delete or de-identify it. Analytics data is retained according to our providers' retention settings. Preferences and other data stored in your browser's local storage remain until you clear them or sign out.

Your Privacy Rights

California (CCPA/CPRA). If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to access and delete it, to correct inaccurate information, and to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under California law, so there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still exercise your other rights. We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

EU/UK (GDPR). If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to our processing of your personal information, and to data portability. We process personal information on the basis of our legitimate interests in operating and improving the Services, to perform any agreement with you, to comply with legal obligations, or with your consent. Our Services are operated from the United States, so using them involves transferring your information to the U.S.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Transfers

The Services are hosted in the United States. If you access them from outside the U.S., you understand that your information will be processed in the U.S., where data-protection laws may differ from those in your country.

Children's Privacy

The Services are not intended for children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU/UK). If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technologies, or legal obligations. Updates take effect when posted, and we will revise the "Last updated" date above. Where required by law, we will seek your consent for material changes.
